We once thought change in economics was about evidence. It isn’t. They ignore evidence. Then we thought it was about language used and framing. It isn’t. They limit access to debates and media which are swamped with their framing. Then we thought it was about power and revolution. It isn’t. They have dulled the minds of people and sapped their will to push for change, unless it is of the hideous fascist kind. What will in the end bring about a shift towards sustainability and social and global justice, and policies informed by insights from MMT is climate breakdown and the need to recover from social unrest and global injustice in an unstable climate. Education will help, as economics catches up with economies co evolving with ecosystems in stress and under threat.
